Very timely, especially coming off of our '5 Trends Marketers Can Learn From The Hannah Anderson & Ask.FM press conference' post we made last week. Didn't read it? Check it out here!
Skateboarder Magazine will soon be closing its doors. We do a lot of work in the youth culture / action sports PR world, so this news came onto our radar very quickly and we're sorry to see a great publication and Website go.
We give a lot of credit to Norb Garrett, SVP Group Publisher of GrindMedia, for the way the news was delivered to the media and consumers. Grind got it out there quickly, maybe even before whispers leaked via social media, and they did it in a concise manner.
Are there still questions lingering? Probably. Is Norb or anyone obligated to answer them publicly or to anyone other than shareholders/investors? Not really. By owning the delivery of the message, GrindMedia also limited and helped control the conversation around it. Does that mean questions won't come up that may be uncomfortable or hard to answer? Definitely not and we should note that the comment section under the video is enabled. So far though they haven't been anti-GrindMedia or Norb.
Using this style of delivery is not without its faults though, but that's a post for another time.
